Overview
Free of charge, the Transfer and Import Utility enables an organisation
to achieve a much closer integration with other file producing software
such as scanning software and reporting tools. It also provides
a simple mechanism by which large volumes of files can be loaded
into a DocMoto server.
Description
The Transfer and Import Utility can support one or more jobs, where
a job can be either a Transfer job, or Import job.
Each job has its source folder (on the local or networked file
system) and destination folder (inside a DocMoto repository).
Transfer Jobs
In the case of a Transfer Job whenever a file or folder is dropped
into the source folder will be immediately transferred to the DocMoto
repository. This makes transfer jobs ideal for use with scanning
software or reporting tools. To have the output from such software
automatically transferred to a DocMoto repository simply configure
your scanning or reporting software to write its files and folders
into the Transfer Job source folder.
Import Jobs
As special kind of Transfer Job, an Import Job transfers large volumes
of files and folders from its source folder to its DocMoto destination
folder. An Import Job does not monitor its source folder, instead
it is designed to be run on demand. A Transfer Job is intended for
those occasions where large volumes of content need transferring
to a DocMoto repository.
