What’s New in Version 2

With DocMoto version 1 we produced a product that was simple to download and install. It required no expensive hardware or software to run on, could be used across the internet or internally, provided simple and clean user interfaces and allowed users to collaboratively work on and share files as well as provide a full revision history.

With DocMoto version 2 we have gone much further. We have added full text (or content) searching, so users can search the text or content of documents and files. We have added user defined Meta tags. So users can search on defined fields such as author name, keywords or subject.

The original DocMoto client has now been completely integrated into Windows Explorer. This means to interact with a DocMoto document store is as simple as accessing a shared network drive. It even uses the same software.

The new client also supports drag and drop, so to transfer your existing shared network drive to DocMoto is as simple as dragging and dropping the contents onto the DocMoto icon in Windows explorer.

The new client also has a “My Files” section. This provides the user with complete details of all the files and folders they currently have checked out.

The DocMoto server has also been thoroughly over hauled in this new release. The administrator can tell at a glance which user has which files checked out. We have also provided an alternative storage mechanism for DocMoto’s data. This new feature means data can now be stored in a Microsoft SQL server.

New Features

Full Text (content) Searching
DocMoto supports full text or content searching. Full text searching allows you to search the text or content of a document as well as just its title. By default DocMoto can search all MS Office file formats (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as text and HTML. Additional filters are also available for numerous other file formats including PDF, Star / Open Office, Autodesk DWF and Microsoft Project.

User Definable Meta data Searching
DocMoto supports the entry of user definable Meta tags. These tags (which can be made optional or mandatory) allow content to be searched by known data criteria such as author name, subject or keywords.

Integrated Windows Explorer Client
DocMoto is completely integrated into Windows Explorer. This makes it simple and straightforward for users to access DocMoto’s functionality. By extending Windows Explorer to support DocMoto, users are working with software they are already familiar and comfortable with.

Load folders and Files in Minutes with Drag and Drop
DocMoto’s integrated Windows Explorer client fully supports drag and drop. This means entire folders of files and documents can be added to the system by simply dragging them to the correct location. This makes initial setup and on-going usage simple and very fast.

Improved security login
DocMoto version 2 has a single sign in feature.

Keep track of checked out files or folders with My Files
In real life users will have more than one file or folder checked out. DocMoto version 2 makes it simple for a user to keep track of files or folders checked out to them through the “My Files” feature.

Optional data storage type (+)
DocMoto Professional supports two formats for data storage. Data can be stored in a secure, encrypted and compressed data file, or a Microsoft SQL server
